Welcome to
Sight of Hope Africa
A safe-haven for protection and hope for the future
"Sight of Hope is a non-profit organization co-founded by Alicia & Ciniso Mkhombe and Beth Kleeman in 2020."
Background
Sight of Hope is currently in partnership with the Free Evangelical Christian Fellowship (FECF) . FECF is the sister church to DFEF, the church in Norway who founded the Mission Station (our current location) over 100 years ago in 1914 by Tomine Evenstad. Tomine Evenstad was a sister to Peder and Thora Evenstad, who were the first DFEF missionaries to come to Swaziland in 1914 and Tomine followed shortly after. She began work on a portion of farmland which they later were able to purchase. Many missionaries followed in their footsteps years to come and this location became a significant mission station within FECF, concentrating mainly on building up the church and helping establish school-related work. However, in 1970, it also became the home for many orphans under the leadership of B. Viblemo. It remained so until December 2005, when B. Viblemo retired. The orphanage was then closed. Attempts were made to re-establish work at the mission station but with limited success. However, when a local NGO came into the picture, work was stabilized and was extended to include a Girls Care Centre under the management of Alicia Mkhombe.
