Our Hope

Sight of Hope Africa exists to see young women transformed, empowered, and reaching their fullest potential.

Spread God's love to the ends of the earth... with the click of a button.

Our hope is to provide

A  Safe Haven for girls

More than a shelter...  we hope to provide a place to belong.
 A home. A family.

In Swaziland, girls who've been victims of abuse are often disowned and discarded.   Girls as young as elementary age are thrown out of their homes and left to provide for themselves.  Many times, girls are forced into the sex trade in order to survive.

At Sight of Hope, we provide shelter, protection and education to girls who have been abused and trafficked.   We seek to provide them with all the love and guidance they need to heal and grow, believing that they have the hope of future.

A  Place to Encounter Christ

We hope to provide the people of Swaziland with an example of Christ and an encounter with the Love of God.

In addition to regular bible studies in our girls homes,  our ministry also hosts one-time events and regular outreaches in our community to help reach the citizens of this beautiful country.

On a regular basis, we are ministering to the Swazi people through our preschool and feeding programs, sports outreaches, after school activities and more.

A Generation of Native Believers

We hope to provide discipleship that educates, encourages, and empowers the girls in our care to take the love God has shown them and pay it forward.

It's our goal to help in the process of growing a generation of native believers in Swaziland, Africa.   It's our hope that the lives we touch will go forward as ministers of God's Love.

Through regular discipleship and opportunities to participate in community outreach, we help our girls learn how to reach others with the love of God.

Hey! We're the Mkhombes!

Almost seven years ago, the Lord began to burden my (Alicia's)  heart to see a place in Swaziland where young girls who had been victims of sexual abuse could find refuge. Swaziland has one of the highest rape rates in the world with estimates suggesting that 2 out of every 3 girls have experienced some form of sexual abuse by the age of 18.

And yet, when I arrived in Swaziland almost 8 years ago, there was no place in the country where young girls who had walked through sexual abuse and trauma and were in desperate need of safe-keeping could turn to for help.

In most cases, upon reporting their abuse, young girls were returned to their unsafe home environments with their perpetrators still walking free, often to face rejection by their families for reporting the abuse that took place (often at the hands of a family member) and thus bringing shame of their families.

So why were they being returned if it wasn't safe and their futures were in jeopardy? The answer is simple... because social welfare had no place to take young girls who needed removed from their homes and in dire need of protection.

Upon seeing this happen several times firsthand during my first year in the country and grappling through the harsh reality of the situation in Swaziland, I knew God was calling me to help see a place established that would meet this need and Sight of Hope proved to be the perfect place to see this vision become a reality.

The following year, we watched God's faithfulness to this call as we were a part of establishing and managing one of Swaziland’s first girls’ home!

Sometimes, I wished I would die quickly but I don’t know what kept me hoping that someday I’m going to be something.  (Now) I see God's grace every day.
